Others have said it very well, but I just want to add my vote. This music radiates energy like lightening bolts. Melodic, varied, complex, and performed with incredible power and skill. Like all great music, you can listen to it again and again and discover something new.

This is one of the best albumes of the Decade! Original and full of heart.
Be ready to leap off your sit and allow your being to rejoice with sheer Bliss!

I first heard this pair on Mountain Stage. Their CD very clearly states that they do not play flaminco music, but that is the best way that I, a person uneducated in their genre of music, can describe it. It is a breathtaking, fast-paced music with amazing rhythm and single note guitar playing. I was captured from start to finish by this album. The duo came from Mexico but lives in Dublin. Their music draws inspiration from Mexico, England, Denmark as well as groups like Metallica and Led Zeplin. This is an amazing CD that you would do well to have in your collection.

When you look up 'music' in the dictionary, Rodrigo y Gabriela are there! This CD is fantastic! If you can listen to more than 2 minutes without having to move, tap, stomp, dance, snap, nod, or something, than you must be a zombie! Gabriela's "guitar drumming" is amazing! I swear she must have sold her soul to the Devil for such raw, stunning and unbelievable talent!! I highly recommend this CD/DVD!

I've played guitar, followed acoustic and electric guitar for years in classical, alternative, classic rock and folk genres. These two musicians are in a class of their own, and this recording is probably the best example of their capabilities.

Whether they perform their own work or full or partial covers, Rodrigo is a superb lead with a hit, fluid style I've not experienced since early Carlos Santana. Gabriella uses her guitar as a dual percussion instrument in which the strings release the downbeat and the musician's fingers on the surface of the instrument release every other facet of rhythm.

This is not ambient or mood music. It commands your attention, but once you do you will not be able to still your body -- so driving and rhythmic is their style.

Produced in Japan, this release includes a 27-minute DVD showcasing five of the duo's best pieces and it is mesmerizing to watch (in comparison to most accompanying DVDs out there).

These two are a real "find," and will appeal to anyone who loves acoustic Flamenco, Fado, contemporary Mexica music or anything in between. And if yu love the guitar, don't even bother to wait. This is a deal and a delight, ad also my choice for one of the best of 2008.

It wasn't that long ago that Rodrigo y Gabriela put out another live disk (Live Manchester and Dublin, 2007) so probably not a surprise that this overlaps with that a little (FOC, One, Take Five). This has more songs from their last studio album (Rodrigo y Gabriela) like "Stairway to Heaven" that wasn't on the other live disk.

If you like acoustic guitar you should give this a try. Kind of a blend of heavy metal and acoustic with Spanish guitar influences. Lots of energy - NOT boring. I guess it must take a while to create one of these songs because I heard them in concert in 2007 do Pink Floyd "Wish you here" and I wish that was here on this disk. They do a little tease of Jimmy Hendrix on here that I wish was a whole song. More new stuff!

This is simply the best album I've heard in a very long time and the hottest from the skilled team of Rodrigo y Gabriela yet. I'm listening to Live in Japan the second time but can't stop moving my body. This album rocks from the beginning with OK TOKYO which builds excitement and blows into JUAN LOCO.

The familiar ORION (Metallica) keeps the fever pitch.

FOC is of course one of the best songs from the guitar duo.

SATORI brings the pace down a little but I'll guarantee you will be moving something.

INTAPA continues the slower pace but builds and the beat continues.

VIKING MAN brings back the fever pitch and displays their talent as they play off each other.

BTW, as the pace continues through TAKE FIVE, this is solid without a break between songs and shows their subtle yet phenomenal skills.

ONE from Metallica is up next. Metallica is one of my favorite groups and hearing their songs "unplugged" by these two is simply amazing.

GABRIELA SOLO is next and I've run out of superlatives! One is simply drawn into the solo and held there in awe.

RODRIGO SOLO is a nice collection of various melodies from several groups, very cool. This is a nice lead into...

STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN (Led Zeppelin) which is a good version and will have you humming right along to the hot rhythms.

TAMACUN is OH MY! Rodrigo first asks if you're ready...hang on for this one.

DIABLO ROJO is last and killer. You'll be standing on your feet screaming for more.

If you're unfamiliar with Rodrigo y Gabriela, I'm not sure how to describe them but a confluence of latin rhythms influenced by hard rock and heavy metal but they appeal to everyone. Sincerely, this is one of the best albums from beginning to end you will ever hear. Well over an hour of intensely wonderful guitar playing by two of the best. You won't be sorry! The live recording sounds like they are in the room with you. Excuse me while I listen to this album again...

This CD makes me want to see RyG in concert. The energy and movement in this live recording is powerful and entertaining. The sound quality is not quite what you would expect from a studio recording, but it still sounds great on my stereo.
The amount of sound generated by just two musicians is amazing, and One cannot help but be impressed by Gabriela's on-the-guitar percussion. This is great stuff!

My only complaint is that it is rather short - maybe 30 minutes long, with just 7 songs. I would assume that their concert was much longer that this. Why did they not include more material?

I expect to buy more CDs from these two rising stars.

The second version of One on here is one of the best new things I have heard in years - voice, acoustic guitar, violin - sounds great. I you ever thought acoustic guitar was boring, this will change your mind.

I saw them live in San Jose area Summer 2007 and they are definitely worth it if they come near you. They did a version of Pink Floyd "Wish you here" that I can't wait to hear without the audience singing.

Something new and vibrant, spanish guitar and rock combined flawlessly.
These artist can rock the house or soothe your soul in just two songs. Unbelivable sound from acoustic instruments. They feel and express every note with precision. A must see live and a must buy for any lover of music.

Put Flamenco and Heavy Metal in a blender and you get Rodrigo y Gabriela!!!

I went to see these guys live and was sceptical as to whether or not they would be interesting for an hour and a half. they were spellbinding. the live album is very close to the set that they are currently playing. They combine traditional spanish/flamenco melodies with some very interesting takes on modern hits - White stripes, Dave Brubeck & Metallica. If you like accoustic performers and are looking for something with a bit of a twist then this CD is the one for you.

I find this music so refreshing because it's unlike anything else I've ever heard. I can't get it out of my head it's so addictive. If you like rock, Spanish guitar, or just good music, you'll appreciate the talent this duo brings to the table. Their other album is excellent as well.

Awesome classical guitar music. Heard it first in "Sprouts" in S. Lake Tahoe, CA. Blended in very nicely with this bistro atmosphere.

This was an early disc by the duo and it doesn't sound quite as good as the newer studio or live album. Both of the newer works are available in the states now, so unless you are major fan, this disc is safe to skip. It seems like some of the songs overlap with later work (under different song titles?). There is a bit of a stronger spanish/mexican flavor in some parts of this, which some people might find interesting.

I recently saw them in concert and had a great time. Well worth it if they come near you (US Summer 2007).

All I can say is that this duo has the most amazing drive, I have ever heard in music. My dad just brought back their live album from Dublin to the states. It is amazing to hear the two artists from Mexico City shredding those guitars. The live album perfectly integrates cool driving riffs, with spanish guitar progressions. The artists started out busking around Dublin and eventually got a record deal. We must get a big following in the states. Buy this album.

This is the debut album of Mexican couple Rodrigo y Gabriella.They are accomplished acoustic guitar players and really explode in this album.They have been residing in Ireland for 5 years now.Their second album is a live perfromance album.Unfortunately it is not available on amazon at the moment.On this one they explain their trash metal roots in Mexico and of Metallica and other bands like slayer and megadeth`s influence on them.Don`t get me wrong their music is very latin american sounding and their guitar playing is incredible.I saw them play live in Limerick and they were breath taking.I would highly recommend this debut to anyone.Also look out for their second album Live in Manchester and Dublin which features 2 live versions of Metallica ONE and clips of the white stripes thrown in for good measure.But on this album all music is written by them.

I was expecting a full-length CD with 7 or 8 songs, at least. There are two versions of "Stairway to Heaven," done well, but one live and one studio. There is one other song, but that's it! Not my best purchase.
