Love the concert in blu-ray, seen it 100+ times, picture is detailed and sharp, sound in LPCM multi-ch is full and clear, watched this on 55" plasma and 100" projector screen. Best concert on blu-ray I own. Shakira is a Goddess!!!!!!!! I wished it had English subtitles!

Shakira can sing and dance! Very entertaining video concert! And she is beautiful and full of personality. I highly recommend if this is your type of entertainment!

really a very good live programme to watch. seeing it in FULL HD(ya the recording is so)is superb. but the sound quality is not good if u put it in dolby digital mode(sad part is that it does not have dts encoding).stereo mode sounded better. And same thing with the audio cd supplied along with, worst live recording..But if u want to see the lady of your dreams, just buy this.WOW

With all due respect, Ms. Arnold couldn't be more wrong. Voices don't come with much more power, control, or range than Shakira. Absolutely incredible vibrato. I'd suggest you listen to more than "Laundry Service" before making such judgements. She can make sounds with her voice you'll swear came from a synthesizer. And she makes the same sounds live as well - this isn't studio gloss. Quite and gentle as mouse or roaring like a lion. From low and guttural like "Se Quiere, Se Mata" to high and loud like "Your Embace". And styles all over the place as well. Try "Obtener Un Si" or "Illegal" for some laid-back Smooth Jazz listening or "Poem to a Horse" for some in your face rock-n-roll. Or try "Hay Amores" and "Despedida" for a South American Folk sound (two she wrote and performed for a movie sound track - Love in the Time of Cholera).
Shakira is not new. She started in the business before she was a teen-ager and her first two albums (Magia [Magic] and Peligro [Danger]) were released only in Columbia. She also did some acting on a Columbian Soap Opera. And by-the-way, she has produced every one of her own albums and was the #4 Female money maker in 2008.
This amazing Singer, Song Writer, Composer, Musician, Dancer, Choreographer, Producer and philanthropist will be around for a long time to come. Being drop dead sexy won't hurt her career any either.

I know, I'm behind the times. I have listened to Shakira since she broke into the American music scene but only just now got around to buying this album.

I've heard and read about tons of people who complain she's too commercial on this album. Fine, it's pop. Meaning popular.

Still, even if you're distracted by that there's no doubt that her voice is haunting. Just freaking awesome. She stands out.

I plan on getting most her other albums over time. This one is a lot fun to listen too.

...but unfortunately, Shakira will not be around for the long-haul. She simply is unable to get outside of her niche and find a new voice. Her market was established with her unique break between her vocal registers, and since that is the only sound she is able to sing with, her popularity is virtually dead.

Even if she were to change her style, there would be little hope for her, since her voice is not outstanding. However, she will be remembered as one that helped to open the doors of American music to the music of the world. She did a wonderful job, and will remain an icon for it. Her best bet now is to come out with clothing and cologne lines to make her money... or start producing!

Best advice... keep those song licenses close to you, girl. Covers are gonna bring you a lot of cash!

A great intro to Shakira's voice and muscial style. It also shows her growth compared to where she is today.

When I first heard this album, it took me a while to adjust to Shakira's distinctive bent, edgy intonation and raw yowling, along with pure, unbridled passion. The year was 2001. Shakira Mebarek had already spent years as a well-known singer/songwriter in Mexico, Central and South America. It was time that the Yanquis get acquainted with her [i.e. music lovers in the United States]. So, Shakira penned her English-language debut, LAUNDRY SERVICE [later released as SERVICIO DE LAVANDERIA, to her Spanish-speaking audience]. Her combination of Latin, rock and Arabic rhythms proved just as infectious in English (one of the three languages she speaks fluently) as in Spanish.

Some of the best songs on this album include "Objection [Tango]," with a Spanish version "Te Aviso, Te Anuncio," and "Whenever, Wherever," with it's spanish counterpart, "Suerte." What's more, Shakira showed her range as a soulful pop singer in slower ballads like "Underneath Your Clothes," and "The One." What's more, who can forget her sultry, sexy "Que Me Quedes Tu"? This intelligent and accomplished singer [then twenty-four years old] showed us her singing chops and her true ability to connect audiences of all backgrounds and lanaguages together with her tunes. Though, I must say that, if pressed, her best album by far is DONDE ESTAN LOS LADRONES? [her 1998 release], LAUNDRY SERVICE is a very appealing CD to own. I definitely reccomend it, six years later.

I couldn't love this album more if I tried! I absolutely LOVE it! She is so talented, and has a very unique voice. I must have listened to this CD hundreds of times since I bought it!

Oral Fixation V.2 is smart, creative, thoughtful, new, fresh, inspiring, daring, and breaks from the conventional mainstream pop sound. This album is not your one night stand plastic pop kind of album---it's really beyond entertainment for those who take the time to understand it. If you like dance music and carefree lyrics go to Madonna, Rihanna, Fergie, and yes Britney Spears. However, Shakira is something else--something above them in terms of actual meaning and art. This is directly due to the fact that Shakira is fully responsible for writing her own lyrics.

Therefore, it's not surprising that many don't like Shakira because of her unique and "new" take on the pop world. Yet, she continues to have millions of loyal fans that continue to support her and continue to show her that there are many out there who have discovered her beauty and this treasure called Oral Fixation V.2

Her lyrics are awesome but they are deep and full of hidden meaning.

1. How do you do? Is the first song in the album. It is a direct attack to the Catholic church. One of Shakira's memorable lines is :You've made mistakes/Well that's OK' cause we all have/But if I forgive yours/Will you forgive mine?

2. Illegal--is the 2nd song of the album. A memorable lyrics is: "You don't even know the meaning of the words "I'm sorry"/You said you would love me until you die/And as far as I kno you're still alive, baby/You don't even know the meaning of the words "I'm sorry."/I'm starting to believe it should be illegal to deceive a woman's heart."

3. Hips Don't Lie--I won't even go into this one. Everyone knows about this song.

4. Animal City---the most memorable lyric is "With you I feel safe/There's nothing to fear from us/Away from the fangs/The fangs of the world/I may be a coward but you are brave/And nothing seems so dangerous"

5. Don't BOther---there are several memorable lines but here my favorite "I'm sure she doesn't know/How to touch you like I would/I beat her at that one good/ Don't you think so?/She's almost 6 feet tal/She must think I'm a flea/ I'm really a cat you see/ And it's not my last life at all

6. The Day and the Time--The most memorable lyrics is "Well, we know/How empemeral life is/Disillusion takes what illusion gives/What's the use of make believe?/This is the day and the time/ I wanna believe that we may still have a chance/We took a leap in the dark/And I can see now/ How our shawdows have turn to light

7. The Day and the Time---"Once upon a time you and I/When we were dreaming easy/Fresh as limes and happy as a Sunday sky/There was nothing we could sell or buy/Cause all we really needed/Was our bare feet and a pair of wings to fly"

8. Hey You---"Hey you/Makin' an offer that/No one could ever refuse/Don't play the adamant/Don't be so arrogant/ Can't you see I've fallen for ya?

9. Your Embrace--"HOpe it isn't too late/To say 'I love you'/Hope it isn't too late to say/ That without you this place looks like London/It rains every day/Don't you know it, babe/I'm only half a body/Without your embrace"

I wanna go on but you get the picture. You will love this album. Just give it a chance.

Oh Shakira, Shakira --- Hips don't lie and neither do my ears when I put this one on.... why else would Wyclef Jean and Rick Rubin want to work with her? OK, OK -- well other than the fact that she is HOT!!! When she sings and pounds out the sounds she make even those of us that don't "habla" understand that talent has no language barriers. This album definitely deserved every award it earned and the only thing that would have made it better was having the video included.

I like Shakira..I do. I really have enjoyed her spanish albums but for some reason, in my opinion, she has not made a successful transition into english, despite a couple of hits. While her spanish lyrics are poetic and deep, her english lyrics are laughable and quite simply, silly. I was very eager when Laundry Service came out but I thought it was a failure..i.e Underneath your Clothes could have been a masterpiece but she killed it with things like "For being such a good girl honey", that is just childish...and the trend of childish and silly english lyrics continues herem an example would be in Don't Bother..another song that could've been excellent had she not gone overboard with the silliness "I beat her at that one good
Don't you think so?
She's almost six feet tall
She must think I'm a flea
I'm really a cat you see
And it's not my last life at all"
I'm sorry, that is just pure silliness.
And it seems she has an obsession with her "humble" breasts because she keeps mentioning them, in Costume Makes the Clown, makes an allusion to them in "Don't Bother" and also in "Whenever, Wherever".
I believe that when she writes the lyrics, she is still thinking in spanish and it shows, it shows the literal translation and the use of the language..Also, I found there the album is not cohesive..she jumps from one genre to another.
I think that she should surround herself with native english songwriters next time she releases an album in english, again, I LOVE her spanish albums and the lyrics are great but in english, they just fall short. I've tried many times to listen to this album and everytime I just find myself thinking how childish and stupid the lyrics sound. I do applaud her effort to cross over and she is definitely a better singer than Enrique Iglesias will ever be (who told him he could sing anyway???).

Shakira's debut album is still one of the best albums of modern spanish latin rock/pop. Her english work will never be able to compare. If you want to experience true Shakira buy this album or 'Donde Estan Los Ladrones?'.

This 1996 album best exemplifies why so many of us fell in love with Shakira Mebarak. This Catholic Lebanese-Colombian singer is best known for her belly-dancing routines and "Hips Don't Lie", but read this review to get to know the early Shakira better.

Reviewers mistakenly state that this is Shakira's debut album. Not so. This is her THIRD studio album, but the first on a major label. Her first two albums - "Magia" (from when she was 13), and "Peligro" (at age 15) were commercial disappointments, and consisted of worn, badly produced Spanish love songs.

But "Pies Descalzos" (translation - "Naked Feet") is where it all came together. This is my second favorite Spanish language album, right after Gloria Estefan's legendary "Mi Tierra".

Now more than a decade old, its timelessness and lyrical brilliance continue to dazzle and win new fans each passing year (its one of the highest selling Latin albums of all time, and still sells hundreds of thousands of copies every year). The secret behind it is simple - this is perhaps the only album to capture Shakira in all her honesty, without pretense or marketing drive to fuel her 'image'.

The result is a stripped-down, acoustic album with complete dedication to simplistic folk-tunes and some acoustic rock elements. The lyrics, even if you are not a native speaker, are the highlight. But up front is Shakira's beautiful voice. In my opinion, her voice peaked on this album and has never sounded as good.

"Estoy Aqui", the lead single, might be why people remember this, but the best songs are all toward the end of the album. Her finest moment here is "Vuelve", a shape-shifting, strange song that will get lodged in your subconscious without any effort on your part. This is stellar. As interesting is "Donde Esta Corazon", a plaintive love ballad where you can just imagine the artist sitting on her sofa with a lonely guitar. Beautiful.

The reason I say that this entire album is Shakira's best effort EVER, is because the CD she released right after this was more rock-oriented and commercial (in the best and worst ways). Later, of course, she bleached her hair blonde, went lighter, and started singing English songs. I do enjoy some of her English work, but they are not a patch on any of the songs here.

For longtime fans of Shakira, we still hold this album dear, because it defines the very best of her work, and reminds us of who she was before she started mass-marketing herself to be successful with North American audiences. Get a copy of this immediately to discover who she was when she started out - this is a classic, essential Spanish language album, and your collection is certainly incomplete without it.

This is the best CD along with Donde Estan Los Ladrones that Shakira has ever produced. Every song is wonderful; there are no filler tracks just plain execptional music. Viva Shakira and Colombia!!!

Yo estaba esperando otra cosa. Despues que anuncio que planeaba dos discos, uno en espan~ol, y el otro en ingles, yo esperaba que el disco en espan~ol hubiese traido unas gran influencias latinas. Estuve muy equivocado.

Con excepcion de "La Tortura", en ritmo de reggaeton, suena mas como la musica de artistas como Coldplay, pero cantado por Shakira. Y hablando de Coldplay, se copiaron de su tocar de piano. Si el nombre del productor, Rick Rubin, y los musicos que no me acuerdo sus nombre ahora, no suenan latinos, menos latino sono su estilo de tocar la musica.

Obviamente le gusto a mucha gente le gusto y estoy en la minoria. Pero si crees que escucharas un poco de instrumentacion latina como la trompeta Mejicana de "Ciego Sordomuda" o los instrumentos de viento andinos en "Suerte" te equivocaras.

This album is simply amazing. After the commercial success of her first U.S. release, LAUNDRY, Shakira went back to her artistic roots with this all-Spanish album. The musicality, lyricism, and tone of this CD puts all of her prior and later work to shame. Even the English VOL. 2, a great album in its own right, pales in comparison. Shortly after its release, "Hips Don't Lie" (which is not included on the original version of VOL. 2) became a big hit. I don't assume Shakira will ever return to this sort of artistic work, preferring to make millions making mindless pop songs, and who can blame her? At least she gave the world this one resounding triumph of sound.

This CD is an outpouring of Shakira's more mature, thoughtful and emotional side. The CD is full of songs that are more mellow than "Grandes Exitos."

Overall, the all-Spanish CD is excellent and offers a lovely, toned-down version of Shakira's vocal style.

Okay, I confess. I have a Shakira Fijación. She's beautiful, she writes her own music, she can dance, she's multilingual, I've read she's very smart and, oh yeah, she can sing. I really like this cd. Although "Hips Don't Lie" may rank as her biggest hit single, Fijación Oral Vol. 1 remains my favorite Shakira cd to date. Produced by studio genius Rick Rubin, Fijación Oral Vol. 1 is the Columbian superstar's first all-Spanish album since 1998's Dónde Están los Ladrones?. Songs include:

Once you see Shakira perform, it's hard to look away.

Otro gran trabajo de una poderosa artista; con este disco Shakira incursiona en nuevas facetas de su carrera, como el cantar en duetos con Alejandro Sanz (otro grande) en LA TORTURA, y hacerse acompanar de Gustavo Ceratti (lider de Soda Estereo) en DIA ESPECIAL; tambien incursiona nuevos generos como la samba en OBTENER UN SI (como si fuera una melodia tipica de sergio Mendes y Brazil'66) y el reggaeton en LA TORTURA; siempre sorprendiendonos con impactantes baladas como TUS PUPILAS y LA PARED y deleitandonos con melodias romanticas como DIA DE ENERO (la cual se la dedica a su novio) y baladas rock como la tremenda NO (que gran balada!!), Shakira no deja de sorprendernos con excelentes discos !!!

This is my favorite Shakira album. She totally rocks. Each song is different and I love that. I recommend this album.

Shakira's second studio album is much better than many even can think. It has great Spanish lyrics. It's great to hear music in other languages - than just English. Shakira had a beautiful and great voice even during this album - and you can hear her great songs like "Ojos Asi", "Ciega, Sordomuda", "Si Te Vas", "no Creo", "Inevitable", and "Tú" from this album. Those all are classic songs. The only song in this album that doesn't make me happy is "Sombra de Ti" which is so boring. Still, I'm very glad that I bought this album - still, after years this is great to listen to.

I like every song in this album, specialy "Tu" and "Moscas en la Casa". I think is a very representative album of Shakira for it is the Bridge betwin her old and new Stile.

Altough comparing the song "Octavo Dia" from this album and "Timor" from her album "Oral Fixation" you can notice the way Shakira's mind and conception of the wold has evolved. It gives you something to meditate about how your own life has change thru the years.

It is a good collection, with 2 different cd's, one in Spanish and one in English. Very good.

For people who are in love for Shakira this 2-CD album is Great. But greatest is the idea to add a CD with musical video-clips for the others: she is a trained good dancer & singer as well.

In early 2002, a friend from Bogota told me of this new, young singer
that was becoming a rage in Colombia.

I listened to her earlier work and realized that this young artist would be hot -
it was just a matter of time.

Ok, you already know the product: FIJACION ORAL 1 y ORAL FIXATION2. FO1 gets 5 stars from me and OF2 gets 4 stars (only because they added Hips dont lie and La Tortura remix). The packaged itself gets a 5 stars rating.

However, if youre planning to buy this pack considering this is the complete Oral fixation project think again: The DVD is missing her latest videos: LA PARED, LAS DE LA INTUICION & ILLEGAL. Plus, theres a english version of Las de la Intuicion not included on any of the cds that comes with this package.

As I said before get this is you want it for what it is, but if u really want the whole project you wont get it with this pack. Hope that helps :)

Each Cd had great songs, but there were a few songs that were just Ok. Pero por lo menos puedo escuchar los dos Cds sin tener que cambiar ninguna canción.

For having waited 5 years for a CD to come out I think she did a good job, but nothing really blew my mind other than La Tortura, No, and Hips Don't Lie. I'm glad que yo espere antes de comprar los dos Cds individualmente because the deluxe edition comes with all the songs plus a bonus DVD with all the videos for the two albums except La Pared and Illegal.

All songs are the Spanish versions. A great compilation. No new material is presented.

Shakira, half Lebanese and half Columbian, is a talented songstress who has put out a gem of music with this CD. It's entirely in Spanish, and even if you don't understand Spanish completely, it's absolutely wonderful to listen to, especially if you like Shakira's vocal style. The tempo is upbeat for most of the songs on the CD. Musically, the CD is a really rich mixture of half-Latin and half Lebanese/Middle Eastern flavor.

I highly recommend this cd. You don't have to know the language to appreciate it. The musical arrangements and Shakira's vocals are outstanding. You feel the emotion and passion in each song. It's awesome.

This is a perfect CD to have Shakira's hits collection.. i have been a huge fans of shakira since oral fixations era, so i started to seek her previous hits and I got this album and it is really gerat all songs are gerat.. but I prefer you to get the Live&Off the Record which is her live version of hits collection (she sang more beautiful there) but if u dont want the live version, this is a perfect CD for you. Go get this CD now, especially if you are a Shakira fans .

Live DVD/CD combos are one of the best recent ideas out of the music industry. Like virtually every great rock act, Shakira's live performances have an extra quality that's missing in her studio CDs yet that extra specialness doesn't always translate onto audio. Watching the DVD, on the other hand, helps to recapture the excitement of what looks like a successful and dynamic world tour. Unlike many younger female rockers, Shakira writes and sings much of her own material and, given that she's sometimes out of breath due to her dance moves, is actually singing onstage. Those who know her only from her pop hits will probably be shocked that she does justice to AC/DC's "Back in Black." She's a serious tomboy! At a time when stadium rock is supposedly dead, Shakira is an especially charismatic singer fronting a capable band.

The DVD is the real deal here, containing a full-length live concert and some nice extras. The CD is ok, and is nice to have if you really enjoy some of the live versions and want to listen to them later. But, for me, the DVD is the reason to buy this combination and the price is definitely right.

Beautiful woman, OK belly dancer, nice blonde hair, but her singing is just awful in "Live Off The Record." Even when she speaks to the audience it's really bad. She's great marketing hype, but honestly, her singing has really declined rapidly. I like her band which makes up for her weak singing. Check our her first two albums when Shakira was more serious and relied less on dying her hair, less belly dancing, and more writing substance. No wonder sellers are selling this CD+DVD album under $3.

This is an older CD. My son wanted it, and he loves it all becasue of Hips Don't Lie! So if you are die hard fan, this is a must!

I've missed her concert in Rotterdam and after watching the DVD I even regret more!
The CD is only a selection of the concert, but great! I have listened it for many times and still it's cheering me up!

I saw Shakira uplugged on TV and just had to get that CD. She has a great voice and it is a pure joy to see her perform. Hope I will be able to visit her live some time.

I have to admit, I think Shakira is a gorgeous woman, but that has no bearing on my review of this album. I like a few of her drum machine dancehall songs, but for the most part they aren't particularly memorable. However, when she gets a REAL band behind her, she knocks it out of the park. With the ability to focus more on her voice and less on the beats, you can hear the overwhelming emotion. Everytime I listen to this album I am moved. When people say that all art aspires to be music, they are referring to works like this. This really IS a masterpiece.

Spanish is my second language and I'm not all that great at it yet. But I can understand a lot of what these songs are about. This is possibly the best live recording I've ever heard; I would say these live versions are better than the originals on Dónde Están los Ladrones.

"Ciega, Sordomuda" is hands down my favorite song on the album. It has a real Mexican sound with music by the mariachi band "Mora Arriaga". Tú is excellent and No Creo has a different arrangement with a real reggae feel to it. All of the songs are great.

I think you would have to be crazy not to buy this, even if you don't speak Spanish very well. This blows away Shakira's pop music

Many Americans seem to think Shakira is a pop singer, and her revealing, suggestive, and even lewd music videos don't help that image. But if that is the only Shakira you know, you are missing out. Shakira is one of the most passionate, emotional, skilled, talented, and powerful singer/songwriters in the world. The poetry of her lyrics does not translate well to English and much of the beauty and depth comes across as shallowness or sexual aggression - the truth of it is, Spanish is a Romantic language, and Shakira writes in Spanish. She has something of a flirty stage presence, but do not mistake this for Britney Speaks-like slut pop a la "Oops! I Did It Again," etc. Shakira's performances are raw and passionate, just like her music. If you were turned off by the drum machines and dance-club rhythms of her studio releases, you should conisder this MTV Unplugged performance. Her band is fantastic, and she herself is a very skilled musician.
