Simon Webbe

This two disc rendition of church hymns is very well done. The sound quality of the individual presentations is excellent. I wish only that the full lyrics to each hymn were included, but that really is a small oversight.

Majestic hymns sung with British accents. A great combination! I haven't noticed any objectionable sounds on my copy.

i grew up in a traditional presbyterian church that had a pipe organ. i wanted a cd of many of the hymns that we sang in church sung by a choir and accompanied by a pipe organ. this cd fulfilled my wishes perfectly. the hymns are performed in a very straight-forward fashion with no show-boating or excess flourishes which is exactly what i wanted. this is not gospel music but what i refer to as liturgical music to indicate that it is religious music but not gospel music. i would give it 5 stars but there is a slight hiss. other than that the recording quality is very good.

My friend in London sent me a track by Simon Webbe, so based on how great it was, got the album. He's a great blend of soul, pop, dance and a gifted song writer.
The smooth, melodic tone in his voice is stunningly similar to Seal's.
No complaints, I think he's great! This cd gets you groovin' & movin!

I found out about Simon Webbe while searching for ring tones. I stumbled upon "My Soul Pleads For You" and from there I just had to download the full album. Unfortunately we don't hear much of this melody-driven R&B pop here on the US radio stations. Simon definitely writes some catchy tunes that remind me a bit of Seal. Good luck and Godspeed, Simon!

Thanks to Sirius Satellite for playing one of Simon Webbs songs. I was hooked. But it is really hard finding his CDs. I can plays his CDs no matter what mood I'm in and feel great while listening. Very upbeat - I would compare him to Seal but doesn't bring you down.

Great follow up to his first album. His music on both albums has been fresh and new. I knew simon would be a big hit after Blue. He's the modern day 'Seal'.

Coming from a boyband usually means you'll end up nowhere or become a big fat bloke on a reality show somewhere. Simon's first CD was a big surprise to me because I generally believed he was the weakest in Blue but prooved to be the most soulful one on that album. with "Grace" I've finally come to respect him. Although he loses his way on some tracks such as Angel(my life pleads for you) and possibly the weakest "fool for you," tracks such as "Seventeen" (my fav), "Sunshine(Love like that)" will keep you smiling. the title track is all the exciting as it is very uplifting. the chorus alone will make you wanna jump up and shout for joy.
All in all, i love this CD. it continous where "Sanctuary" left off and greatly shows an improvement in Simon's voice. he is fast becoming our generation's Seal, but better looking. Great work, mate!

Up until now, I had never heard of him. Then I heard his positive views about his fan diversity and how he doesn't mind getting compliments from anyone male or female. With positive views like that, frankly I would have supported him even if the record was trash but, I really like some of the tracks and... he has a website which sends his fans free previews, videos and other items. I say support the man!

Simon was the 2nd member of Blue to release a solo album after Lee, who's album was released a couple of months prior to Sanctuary. Luckily for Simon, his album is better and charted a bit better then Lee's.

Only one shop in Auckland sold Simon's album here, and I got it for a more expensive price then I was expecting. But it wasn't a bad decision, as it's quite a good album. It's better then you would expect from an ex boy band member, and yes, Simon did have a hand in co-writing nearly all the tracks. This makes it a bonafide solo album in my opinion.

A lot of material on the album is different to what Simon did with Blue, but there are some songs that make you think 'Blue could have done this.'
Highlights of the album include debut single "Lay Your Hands" - a soulful catchy pop track with great vocoded vocals on the chorus. This song is easy to sing along to, and never gets boring. Second single "No Worries" is also a great track, more cute vocals on the chorus - this song makes you want to dance and is uplifting and happy. Other stand out tracks include "Ashamed," "Unjustified," "Only Love," and "Star," but the absolute stand out track is "All I Want" - a very poppy song, probably the most "pop" song on the album. It's the kind of song Blue would have sung when they together, and that's probably why it's my favourite on the album. The lyrics are amazing, and the music is very cool. I would recommend this song for a future single, it's Blue like so it would do well.

Overall, this is a solid debut solo effort and I definitely look forward to hearing more from Simon. As of this moment, until Duncan's solo material comes out, Simon's album is my favourite Blue solo member album.

This is a great album!! Hip and smooth, very good just to listen to, I play it all of the time in my kitchen when I am cooking or just hanging out.

Maybe this CD just caught me at the right moment, but I haven't enjoyed listening to a CD this much in a while. There is a very mellow, very summery sound to this CD. But even more strongly evident than that is the uplifting quality of the songs here. If Simon Webbe never sang or lisened to gospel music, I'd be very, very, very surprised, as it's written all over this album. There are times I've just wanted to lift my hands and sing. And it's not just the sound, but the lyrics, too. Redemption, unending love, waking up to the one you love, angels, sin, hope.

Very warm, very classy, very uplifting. This is going to be a stand-by for some time.

This CD rocks...Lay Your Hands and No Worries are the best songs on this CD and it's just awesome in general.

I love Blue, and Simon was one of my favorite singers in the group. However, I was very dissapointed with this CD. Simon seems unmotivated throughout the CD, and each song sounds the same. There was no passion throughout the CD, and he sounds lazy. Download the songs, don't buy this CD.

This is a great CD to add to you diverse collection. Love it and great for singing and driving!

"After All This Time" is another single released from Simon Webbe's debut solo album "Sanctuary" and is yet another exemplar of the ex-Blue member's conviction to go solo and make it big in the pop world. This is a smooth and low-tempo song compact with meaning that borders on a tribute of sorts to women who retain love for their partner despite infedility on the other side.
