Solar Stone

I still do not know why Solar Stone has not been recognized for its work as it should be.... Is it a marketing problem?

...as you're about to be taken on a musical journey into the current world of today's club and dance sounds.

Let me begin by saying that I've been familiar with the work of Solarstone (or Solar Stone) since the appearance of the now-classic mix "Chilled Out Euphoria" on the Telstar label in the UK. Available only as an import in the US, it was the first inkling of what Solarstone was capable of producing, namely a seamless adventure into sonic landscapes. Their efforts at remixing artists such as Sarah McLachlan, Conjure One and others were equally delightful and enchanting at times.

While there are artists that are recognizable present on the album (Tiesto, Tilt, Way Out West, Alex Morph), it's some of the names that I don't recognize that made the album a surprise and pleasure. Artists such as Action Level, Yanave and Funabashi show signs of being future stars and being given that recognition on the album is evidence of that.

Water Music has been bringing in these artists lately (including their releases of The Thrillseekers "Nightmusic" and Mike Koglin's "Vs") and should be commended for giving these artists visibility here in the US. This is one listener who is glad he's able to find and purchase this music without resorting to imports (too often.) *chuckle*

I am a trance DJ and basically spend vast amounts of my life listening to and mixing Trance and Prog House, and over the years I have had a few Solar Stone mixes/remixes cross my path and I always had a mental note that they seemed to align with my taste in music, which is progressive and euphoric electronic dance music. I randomly picked this up without any recommendations and I have to say that this has been in my stereo at home for the past month non-stop, almost exclusively. Very solid throughout both CD's. Seriously enjoyable! I am so sick of buying mix after mix of the big guys and liking only 2 or 3 songs out of a 2-CD mix!!! It is refreshing to see that at least some DJ's out there haven't sold out and are maintaining their musical integrity to play songs they actually enjoy rather than songs their label tells them to play. If you like this, I also recommend: Anjunabeats: "Vol 1","Vol 2","Vol 3",& "Vol 4", "Anjunabeats Worldwide", and soon to be released: "Anjunabeats Vol 5", "Mondo Sessions 001" Mixed by Darren Tate and Mike Koglin (AMAZING!!!), Ferry Corsten's "Passport: Kingdom of the Netherlands" and Armin van Buuren Yearmix 2006. In my opinion, these are the absolute best trance collections put out in the past 5 years.

nicely mixed, every track sounds good and blends well with the others. this cd was on sale, and ended up being a really good deal.

This is quite simply one of the most beautiful and uplifting trance tracks ever produced. Full stop. The Atlantis Mix is perfectly produced (as ever with the brilliant Solar Stone), hooking you within the first 5-10 seconds. From there, you are taken on a progressive journey of warm sounds and spirit-raising synths. This tune works perfectly both within a superclub and your bedroom. 'Seven Cities' is soon to be re-released on Hooj Choon's sister label, Lost Language. Let's hope it get then recognition it deserves this time around.

You must buy this track now! The Atlantis mix is very cool,its very melodic and immacutely produced. Deep house fans might want to check out the Solar Heights mix but its a bit too heavy for me.There are a couple of other mixes knocking about on CD2 and vinyl but its the Atlantis mix that stands out.8 minutes of pure bliss.

I first heard this song on the disc-cream anthems 2000 and immediately feel in love.It was music to my ears.The atlantis mix is by far my favorite.It is a very soothing,trance song with a psyedelic feel to it.Definetly great for any trip.

I heard this single on our local college radio station, wknc in raleigh, and normally I will only half listen to what they are playing. However, when I heard this on the radio, I jumped out of my seat to call the station to find out who the band was. With a perfect mixture of synth and "creamy" voices, this is a must-buy for electronica lovers.

HOW MASSIVE IS THIS? PLAYED BY ALL THE BIG WIGS: OAKENFOLD, ARMIN VAN BUUREN, TIESTO, PAUL VAN DYK, SCOTT BOND, JOHN 00 FLEMING...CLASSIC PIANO RIFT AND BLISSED OUT CHORDS SET THE TONE FOR SUNSET GAZING....

This is one of those rare, utterly beautiful pieces of trance music which has an extremely unique sound, even if the formulaic construction of the piece is not that original. By far the best version of this track is the full-length "Atlantis Mix," which is only on Part 1. This disc, Part 2, has the "Atlantis Edit" (also on disc one) and V-One's very clubby, very trancy remix. This remix has a nice sound to it, but in this mix we lose the unique beauty of the song, and it is transformed into just another trance-dance club song. Moreover, the harmony utilized is a bit jarring when the melody is introduced after the break; the two don't mesh very well. On the other hand, "Solar Stone's Coastal Mix" is a very elegant, non-house remix which maintains a very unique sound due to the subtlety of the production, but mostly to the rarity of this kind of beat in electronic music. Still, it's no "Atlantis Mix". The point is, this single is worth getting. But if you're going for only one, go for the first single.
