Spice Girls

Bought this for my sister who was really into the Spice Girls at the height of their fame. I've listened to it with her and there are a couple of good songs but I was in my late 20's when this came out so it was a bit past my interest level. Music and vocals are ok. If you are a SG fan, you will like this cd.

Spice by Spice Girls is a cd I don't have anymore, my taste in music has drastically changed since then but I remember these crazy girls fondly. The Spice Girls couldn't quite carry a tune but the music was fun and carefree, songs I liked: Wannabe, Say'll Be There, 2 Become 1, Who Do You Think You Are?, and Naked. You can say this cd was a guilty pleasure but heck this debut album from the euro pop girls was a lot better than their second album.

Okay, I may be setting myself up for a lot of laughs here but I really like the Spice Girls. Okay, so maybe I shouldn't say `really like' but they were big when I was like twelve and me and my friends listened to them all of the time, so whenever I hear songs like `Wannabe' I get, oh what's the word; happy. There may not be much depth to be found in most of what the Spice Girls have ever released, but their music is fun and sometimes that is more than enough. With their debut album `Spice', the Spice Girls have strung together a nice collection of fun songs that are hard to dislike.

`Wannabe' is just one of those great anthems. I don't care what you haters want to say, I don't see how you can't like this song. `Say You'll Be There' is another one that was perfect for the radio; spunky and fresh. It's not as good as `Wannabe'; in fact none of the songs on this album are as good as their first single, but they are still fun. `Love Thing' is even better than `Say You'll Be There' and `Who Do You Think You Are' feels like a fiesta; it just makes you want to dance. `Something Kinda Funny' is that same ol' same funky vibe and `If You Can't Dance' reaches `Who Do You Think You Are' territory. These are undoubtedly numb songs but they deliver upbeat and energetic music that easily gets into your skin and releases those fabulous things we call endorphins. Who can be in a bad mood when listening to this stuff?

The you have `2 Become 1', one of those silky smooth tracks that gets that mood set perfectly. These girls have great voices and really compliment one another. They aren't just one big gimmick, even if that's how they are remembered for the most part. Just listen to `Naked'; it's slinky and seductive and unlike anything else on the album. `Last Time Lover' nails the vibe that Spice Girls so effortlessly fell into. Is it just me or do the verse-line vocals sound like something off TLC's `Crazy Sexy Cool'? I might be crazy, but I don't think that I am.

The one track I am not entirely sold on, and the one I skip more often than not, is `Mamma'. It just doesn't fit that well with the rest of the album. It's trying to be deep and meaningful but it's not that facet that bothers me as much as the change up in musical chemistry. It just doesn't sound like a Spice Girl song.

Anyways, I'll close by saying that this is not the greatest album out there but it is such a fun collection of songs I can't help but find enjoyment here. I know a lot of people write the Spice Girls off as gimmicky and washed up but songs like `Wannabe' will be around for a long time to come and never get old. Geri, Emma, Mel B, Mel C and Victoria cemented themselves as pop icons and will go down as one of the most recognizable pop acts of the 90's. No matter what you think of this brand of music you must admit that the Spice Girls mastered it.

So they're a little cheesy. I'll say the same thing I said about Milli Vanilli. Who Cares? They may have little or no singing talent, but the songs (especially "Say You'll Be There") are catchy as hell, and at least they came around before Britney Spears, who is so much more responsible for ruining teen pop music than they could ever be. That dreamy sex ballad "Naked" is pretty cool, too.

You gotta admit it. "Wannabe" is one of the all time catchiest pop jingles. Is it in your head right now? "Say you'll be there" is also very good. The remainder of teh album, while nowhere near so catchy, isn't bad. It's perfectly respectable chick pop. Gotta own it as a piece of 90s "culture."

It's a cute CD...I love the fact that they used the voices from the movie and not some other people like most animated Soundtracks do. I especially love that they put in the clips of the movie like where chicken little sang "We are the champions" but revised it to "I am the champion," and he only sang up to a certain part of the song. It's a good CD.

We just love this soundtrack! It's one that you don't mind listening to over and over (unlike some). My son loves the movie and always wants to listen and dance to the music at the end of of video, so I figured it was a safe buy - and I was right!

Great to hear the old and new songs and to remember a really well done animated film.

My husband bought the Chicken Little movie for our 3 year old (mostly to get us OFF the Cars movie that we all have memorized) and he fell in love with it! He likes to act out the scenes and loves the music. He loves this CD at night when he's going to bed. We all have to dance to One Little Slip (he knows all the words) and then we have to "shake our tail feathers" before he jumps in bed every night! I enjoy the cd too, so it's good for everyone!

My daughter absolutely loves this cd. I could not find it anywhere until i looked on amazon, so thank you amazon!!

If you were older than 5 in 1994, then you remember this quintet of Brits bursting onto the scene. No, I'm not referring to the Beatles--it's the Spice Girls! Ginger, Sporty, Baby, Posh and Scary (otherwise known as Geri, Mel C, Emma, Victoria and Mel B) took the world by storm (even outselling that other famous Brit quintet I mentioned earlier), and introduced the world to Girl Power. Even though their career went by the wayside far earlier than it should have, their multitude of hits are still great today (and they're even making a small comeback). This collection not only includes pretty much every big song they ever put out, it also includes a 2nd disc with the videos of all but 2 of the songs on the CD! If you ever liked them--even if it was only in the privacy of your bedroom--buy this. You won't be disappointed.

It's great to have all the spice girl's hits in one place, and buying from amazon is a bonus, because you get a dvd with all the music videos. you don't get that in stores, folks! I've checked!

The Spice Girls are Back!! Well Sort of. The disc was to coincide with their reunion tour. It features all the Spice classics like Wannabe and Say You'll Be There and all thier videos. It features two new songs Headlines and Voodoo. Headlines is very sappy and sweet, while Voodoo is an attempt at a dance track. The only problem I have with this disc is that Voodoo is such a weak attempt at a dance track. I just feel that it could've been better considering these are the girls who gave us Wannabe. Even at their worst they are still at thier best. The Spice Girls are back and hopefully they will put out a new album together and show these new girl groups how its done. Welcome back girls.

The SPICE GIRLS was a short-lived pop group back in the late 90s. After losing a member and unofficially splitting up, each girl went and had a solo career in music. The total number of solo albums they recorded is greater than the number of albums they made as a group. However, discussing further their solo albums is not relevant in this review.

After more than five years since they released their last album Forever, the girls had finally agreed to reunite for a "world" tour and the much-awaited (by the fans) Greatest Hits.

This particular item is the CD/DVD edition. All their singles are included in the CD, from Wannabe to Headlines (Friendship Never Ends). The radio edits and single versions of the songs are used. So for those who only have their albums you finally get the single version of 2 Become 1, in which Victoria sang the fourth verse instead of Geri.

Their well-known Pepsi advert theme song called Move Over (Generation Next), and a second new track Voodoo (Headlines is the other one) are included here to complete the 15 tracks that composed the CD.

What's better in this album is that the songs had been remastered. Though not mentioned in the inlay of the album, the improvement over the sound of the tracks can be heard, especially in Who Do You Think You Are.

The DVD contains all of their music videos sans Headlines (the US version includes Headlines though). It's fun to watch once more their cool videos such as the futuristic Spice Up Your Life, the sexy Holler, and the MTV-awarded Viva Forever. You'll get to notice some cute and petty little things in their videos which you might not have noticed before, since during their time DVD was not yet popular.

If you want to relive 90's music, have a happy/light mood, have fun, or maybe dance, then this album is recommended for you. The SPICE GIRLS may not have lasted long. But their impact in music and their legacy are presented once again in this album.

1) I usually hate the original broadway cast albums and movie soundtracks. They don't do the songs justice. They usually have chopped up versions of the songs and include unnecessary dialouge.

I'd love to see every musical (broadway or movie) done this way!
I appreciate the b'way versions, but I don't want to listen to them in my car...

This is a very good CD. "Written in the Stars" is an extremely emotional song, and it is my favorite on the album. I would like to see the show on Broadway, but I have to say I don't think it can be too much better than this CD

It takes so much to try to get a musical to make its way upon Broadway. Sometimes you really need to understand how to make it really happen within the passion of the storytelling music. In that case with Elton John, he nearly seemed to make it with Aida. While the music for Broadway always seems to have at least something completely mgaical and a dash of power in it. Sometimes, you really need to understand it, to make it happen, and others don't see it from the start. Although Elton John has had great music for years, at least once in a era, something goes a little flat.

The 1999 Aida, was not a studio album from Elton, but a preview from what was happen on Broadway. The various artists record contains so many different artists in the record including Tina Turner, Boyz II Men, Dru Hill, and the upcoming Heather Headley. Before Heather made it as a singer, she made it right here in Aida, on this record. The only decent song that was a hit was Written In The Stars, which Elton performed with Leann Rimes. The song was also the last song Elton cracked Billboard's Top 40. Still, there really wasn't a lot of enjoyment within most of the record, and it fell into a sleeper. Considering that Elton is already planning on making another smash musical on Broadway, hopefully he'll do better with the concept record.

When it does come to making it on Broadway, it isn't really anything exciting, unless it truly is a smash, and Aida is a smash on Broadway, just not the record. Still, if you're a die hard fan of Aida, buy this record. Otherwise, it could be a hitless miss.

Aida was Elton John and Tim Rice's baby, providing a concept soundtrack album before even setting the stage on fire, the tracks are generally sweeping show ballads.
Elton teams up with several lovely and talented ladies, in LeAnn Rimes, Janet Jackson, and Lulu. "Written In The Stars" could be a vocal gladiator battle, the way LeAnn and Elton sing it. Janet and Lulu prove themselves as more mellow duet partners.
Kelly Price makes "The Gods Love Nubia" her own, the song is tied up in soul with her voice being smooth as silk. The far too short "Amneris' Letter" shows off Shania Twain's voice to perfection also. Pop culture phenomenon the Spice Girls turn "My Strongest Suit" into the most obvious pop stomper of this set. Another strong point is Heather Headley's solo "Elaborate Lives". A rich ballad, Headley recently embarked on an R&B singing career with the track "He Is". The legendary Tina Turner provides a fiery perfomance, her track being the powerful "Easy As Life" with Angelique Kidjo.
Duds are also present, Sting and Dru Hill's tracks are admitted stinkers. James Taylor, Boyz II Men, Sherie Scott, and Lenny Kravitz also deliver perfomances on the album. This album is well put together, with strong tunes and a short-list of superstars presenting them. A fun buy.

This movie isn't the best, nor is it supposed to be. It was created in the hey-dey of Girl Power mania for tweens who loved the Spice Girls; therefore, the simple humor and outrageous plot are aimed directly at such fans. The main appeal of the movie is to see the girls perform some of their greatest hits.

If you know Lester's work, you know that he makes lousy films that are sometimes funny. This is a lousy film which is sometimes funny. But the girls really have no talent. Victoria Beckham can sort of sing, but that's about it. Not much at all really.

I received the movie quicker then I thought I would and it was in great condition!

I will definitely buy something from you guys in the future.

As a younger child, I grew up listening to the Spice Girls. Spice came out when I was 7, and SpiceWorld when I was 8. Although Spice is amazing and definitely has some great hits, I must say SpiceWorld is my favorite Spice Girls album. It starts out with their huge hit, Spice Up Your Life, one of my favorites and a very popular choice among fans. Next is Stop, an upbeat song that makes you want to dance (they even made up a cute and easy dance to go along with it!) Too Much is the theme song to their movie of the same name, which is a slower ballad. Not a bad song, but not one of my favorite songs by them. Saturday Night Divas is a great song with a slower, sexy melody. One of the best songs on the album in my opinion. Never Give Up On The Good Times is guaranteed to put anybody in a good mood, with its catchy chorus and upbeat tempo. Move Over is one of the songs used for their Pepsi commercials, shorter but very good. Do It is another one of my favorite songs ever. Its positive lyrics and fun melody never fail to make me want to get up and sing. Denying is a great song, very typical Spice Girls, with each member having a part and Mel B having her little rap-type section. Viva Forever is a really great song with great lyrics as well. The Lady is a Vamp is a classic song that mentions many famous people, including Elvis, Norma Jean, and Bob Marley. I can honestly say there isn't a song on SpiceWorld that I dislike. 5/5/, an A+ album in my opinion :)

Spiceworld by Spice Girls is a predictable album and after this album was released I stopped being a fan. The songs are weak and formulatic, this is the final time we hear Geri Halliwell, she left the group a year after the release of this album. Songs like Spice Up Your Life, Too Much, Viva Forever, and Stop have no flavor or edge to them, their debut album was ten times better than Spiceworld. This album is a stinker and even those euro babes knew it too.

I usually don't like anything that Disney puts its name on. If its a CD, it means that hilary duff, jesse, raven, aaron, aly/aj or something will be on it. So when we ordered this, I thought it would be trash.
But it had ShEdAiSy's deck the halls, which is a favorite, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, NSYNC(which is actually okay) and NO hilary duff! We also got Jingle Jams and it wasn't as good as this CD. So if you want to buy a disney holiday album, buy this one!

Sometimes I pull out this CD in the middle of the summer to bring me back to the most special time of the year. I really like SHeDAISY's "Deck the Halls" and "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" by Brenda Lee. "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer" is still funny every time I hear it. It's good that this is a mix of holiday classics and newer artists too!

This CD totally brings the holiday spirt out in ages young to old! Celebrate this year with these timeless songs!

This is a very good Christmas CD! The best song has to be Myra's "Frosty the Snowman." If you enjoyed this song, be sure to pick up her CD called, "Myra."

i really wish geri didn't leave. seems like her departure put the remaining spice girls in a position where they didn't know what to do musically. this album tries a bit too hard--to be R&B. it's like these are imposters-not the same spice girls i knew and loved. you can change musically but IT HAS TO SOUND GOOD. maybe it's me but i feel that they even sound sad, mopy, and energy-less b/c Geri's not in the studio. they don't have that previous fun, spark and grit in their voices like on the previous 2 albums. i keep imagining that they were crying over geri and the future of the group right before they started recording the song i am listening to. there's nothing catchy or good! Holler is only ok. and like the Amazon review so rightly said, seems like they are stealing music from other people. the reviewer sums up this album perfectly when they say, this has all been heard before.

Firstly - zero stars for the official Amazon review provided by Courtney Kemp - those bland criticisms could be equally directed at a million other albums as well...but I won't go on...

Now to "Forever" - it was my favourite Spice Girls album back then and it remains so today. While the first 2 albums were enjoyable and fun, "Forever" saw the Spice Girls attempting a more adult and sophisticated sound - one which I greatly enjoyed. Standout tracks for me include: "Holler", "Tell Me Why", "Weekend Love", "Oxygen" and "Goodbye" - in my opinion all better songs, and having greater emotional impact, than those on the first 2 albums. Why this album was not widely embraced by pop fans I don't really know but I for one loved it! And still do.

WOW! The song is great, and catchy, and the video is good, too! Awesome choice for a single. Just great. Theres nothing much else I can say about it!! Mel B (Scary)'s voice shines in this song.

2. Tell Me Why - 10/10
A song meant for Geri (Ginger), asking her why she abandoned them. This should have been released instead of 'Goodbye'. Definite number one. Victoria (Posh)'s voice shines in this song.

3. Let Love Lead The Way - 10/10
Released with 'Holler'. Of course, both got to number one. Best slow song on the album. Wonderful, and maybe the most catchy on the whole album. Mel C (Sporty)'s voice shines in this song.

4. Right Back At Ya - 9/10
Great for dancing, and parties. I wish that they would redo this song with Geri (Ginger) and get back together. The only problem with this song, taking away one point, it that their voiced, when combined, sound a little off in this song. Victoria (Posh)'s voice shines in this song.

5. Get Down With Me - 10/10
Best song on the whole album. Dance song, and also, very upbeat. Gotta love it. Mel B (Scary)'s voice shines in this song.

6. Wasting My Time - 10/10
Another 10/10! I can't help it. The whispering style of this dance song is iresistible! Mel C (Sporty)'s voice shines in this song.

7. Weekend Love - 8/10
This song has a great theme. It is slow, and Mel B's rap in this song doesn't really fit it, but it is still kind of catchy. Emma (Baby)'s voice shines in this song.

8. Time Goes By - 3/10
Yes, that is a 3/10. This is definitely the weak point of this album. Not catchy, and their voices seem out of place. Nobody's voice shines in this song.

9. If You Wanna Have Some Fun - 10/10
Is this sng slow, or fast. It's kinda both, and they fit perfectly together. The verses are much better than the chorus, though. Emma (Baby)'s voice shines in this song.

10. Oxygen - 5/10
Not a good tune to this song. It's weird because all of their voices shine in this song but it still manages to be somewhat bad. I try to ignore this song, but still not as much as 'Time Goes By'. All of their voices shine in this song.

11. Goodbye - 9/10
A song to bid farewell to Geri (Ginger). Very nice, and the No No No No's are sung well, by Emma. All of their voices shine in this song.

OVERALL ALBUM - 10/10
'Time Goes By', and 'Oxygen' fail to keep this album from a perfect ten! If you have the extra cash, you have to buy this!

HI: The spice girls came out ten years ago as the pop sensation of the 90's. They are a talented bunch of musicians and singers!!!Songs are catchy and easy to sing along to. I really like them. It's not too rockish, and not something you'd fall asleep to. Forever has a great deal of nice songs. I especially like : Let love lead the way, and Time goes By.> Great job by the Spice Girls!!

The reason they stopped making albums because of Geri disappeared because this album was to tell Geri how they felt. The reason Geri quit because these 4 girls were making fun of Geri because she supported and loved Mariah Carey. I am a huge fan of Mariah Carey!!! I used to love their first and second albums and I never thought about buying their 3rd album because of Geri disappeared. I knew they wouldnt make 4th album and I was right!!! If they understood Geri and if Geri still working with them I am very sure they would make alot of albums by now. I sold my 1st and 2nd albums to a good friend of mine because I really didnt want to listen to these 4 girls singing after what they had done to Geri and talked real bad things about Mariah Carey.

Say You'll Be There is an awsome song.I play the Spice Girls a bit.Some of there songs were exceptional.That Mel C has an awsome voice,and i think i have a crush on Geri.Great to see this band is getting back together for what looks to be a massive tour,it may even include Australia.They weren't around for very long,but they did produce some classic songs.

I enjoy listening to the English girls sing this one. The scene from the movie brought me to this. Raw and girly.

For the Spice Girls, that is. The lead track was a very good song, and a strong single, but the Spice album went down from there.The only reason to buy this is the instumental version, if you are a huge fan. The B-side is boring, and the remix is really nothing but drums.

I had to buy this CD Single. Not for the popular hit, "SAY YOU'LL BE THERE". But for the unreleased track, "TAKE ME HOME". A darker pop song, not heard before from The Spice Girls or any other teen/dance pop of the time. It's my all-time favorite Spice Girls Song and one of my favorite of all time-period. Why it wasn't a part of any Spice Girl album is beyond me. It's a much better song than "SAY YOU'LL BE THERE". 5 stars for "TAKE ME HOME" alone.
