Wonderful! Thoroughly enjoyed all 4 discs. You feel, hear and appreciate the full & powerful sounds and the musical clarity and quality ... just like being in the movie theatre...It's a huge compilation of great and memorable music!

you would have to buy dozens of individual soundtracks to include even some of the music here. slight adjustment to john williams (for example) originals but well performed. outstanding variety. use these cds to jump start your day with triumph!

I absolutely love this collection. It certainly matches its title. I use some of the music in workshops for movement and everyone has a great time moving through Goldfinger, Indiana Jones, Pink Panther, and the Stormtroopers! Hearing the Titanic hit the ice is bone chilling. It's a great compilation. Thank you!

This music is a multi-CD pack that includes only instrumental music. I am a person who really likes this type of music. Many different movie music themes are included in this set including: mission impossible, Titanic, Superman, and others. Eric Kunzel is the main author of this collection but many others are also showcased. I highly recommend this set.

The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra led by Erich Kunzel has recorded some of the best orchestral versions of film scores. This is indeed the ultimate collection and a good starting point to explore the many albums from epic soundtracks to gentle love themes; great silver screen classics to modern award winners.

This CD is not what it claims to be. It's the Scottish National Orchestra re-doing themes from several movies, and the themes have definitely lost their flavor -- not to mention their tempo. I'm very disappointed. When I want the soundtrack to something, I want the actual soundtrack!

These are not bad renditions if you hadn't seen the movies -- but it's almost as bad as hearing a midi of some song you like: it's just what's on the page, not the incredible flavor of the version in the movie.

Haven't been this disappointed with an album since my penny-pinching little brother bought me "101 Strings Play Simon & Garfunkel". ;)

This would be an excellent background music album if it wasn't for the harsh, unmusical sound in the highly modulated sections. This is most noticable in the RHAPSODY ON A THEME OF PAGANNI, all though it is throughout the album. It is similar to listening to music through speakers that are "over driven" or damaged.
I had no problem with the inclusion of END CREDITS. I thought they worked well for background (as opposed to concert) music, as all the major themes of the movie can be reintroduced in the END CREDITS.

Okay, so I thought I was buying "Great Movie Love Themes." I was familiar with the list, so I thought I would be getting the perfect compilation of melodies. Wrong. This CD should be titled, "Great Movie End Credits Themes," because four of the 12 selections are End Credits music, the stuff no one wants to listen to as all the technical information rolls at the end ot a movie (you know, exit music). The trouble with End Credits is that few carry the actual love theme music or they carry only a small snippet. Most End Credits music is boring. "The English Patient," "Shakespeare in Love," "Sabrina," and "Braveheart," are all End Credits music. Don't expect to hear predominant love themes in these particular selections for which the movies are known.

On the plus side, "Unchained Melody," "Somewhere in Time," and "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini," are beautiful renditions. And the End Credits music for "Sabrina," is better than expected. I'd give "Unchained Melody," "Somewhere in Time," and "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini" five stars, "Sabrina" four stars and the other eight selections two stars.

Just be aware when you buy this album that you are not getting exactly what is described. You have to read the fine print on the back of the CD cover.

I love any movie themes, especially the unsung tracks such as the music for opening or closing credits. This is a terrific CD and keeps me happy at work!

This CD is one of my new favorites. The music is just beautiful. Very relaxing soundtracks for in the car or at home.

Watching the very good film I was thinking I've got to purchase the soundtrack. It's a large part of what makes the movie so good.

I'm not going to write a long review, because there are so many other reviews on here, but I am just here to agree that this is a great soundtrack! I love it! :)

Even though the release of the movie, which had me enraptured, is now six years in the past, I still enjoy listening to this soundtrack as much as ever.
After having seen the film I listened to the listening samples of the soundtrack available online over and over; the melodies really haunted me and I wanted desperately to be transported back into the escapist world of Shakespeare in Love by listening to its music. The Soundtrack, which I then bought, enabled me to do so over and over again, but over the years I find it has qualities beyond those linked to the motion picture, and it has become one of my favorite CDs to read, study and relax by.
Anyone who loved the film will enjoy remembering it by means of the music, and re-experiencing the fun, fast, multi-layered, stimulating and inspiring story again (and again and again).

I loved the movie "Shakespeare in Love," and the soundtrack in one of my favorite CDs. The music is absolutely beautiful and perfectly reflects the bittersweet moments of the film. My favorite track is definitely the first one, "Beginning of the Partnership," which is what I plan to walk down the aisle to for my wedding.

I listened to this whole CD at a friend's house. Being a fan of Medieval/Renaissance music, I expected very much to enjoy this CD. I was extremely dissapointed. It was terribly dull. Nothing sounded unique at all, or had any kind of Renaissance flare to it. To be blunt, it bored the hell out of me. I definitely didn't notice this music at all even as I was watching the movie. It never captured my attention in any way. Now I know why it didn't. Its the same wishy washy theme to every romantic movie. I recommend the sountrack to Elizabeth instead of this dull waste of time.

I first heard Russell Watson during a Fourth of July concert which aired on one of the major television stations. He sang "Funiculì, Funiculà" and the crowd went crazy, as did I. Soon thereafter I went to the nearest record store and asked where I might find any CDs by Russell Watson. The clerk who helped me smiled. I asked her why she smiled and she replied, "We have a lot of customers asking for Russell Watson's CDs." I bought every album of his they had, and then I went online and ordered more. His voice is stunning. His talent is enormous. He once said he sang the selections he did, a mixture of opera, classical, and modern, because he wanted to reach a broad audience. I have since given his CDs as gifts and I never tire of listening to this album, as well as others of his.

I do not even remember why I acquired this recording, probably because of a magazine review suggesting an interesting new tenor. Whatever my reason, I must say that I enjoy listening to it.
And I do not understand the vitriolic reviews some on this site have given the recording. True--Domingo he is not. But, I have never heard anyone claim that he is. It is amazing to me how many reviewers praised the (talented) amateur Daniel Rodriguez' recordings and how many are panning this one.

The first time I heard him sing I was blown away- in a land full of fat old men siging opera- he is anything but- as easy on the eys as his voice is to the soul, Watson remains one of the most under appreciated artists of the day. This is my second copy of this CD as the first one mysteriously walked away. Russell Watson, is a man of many voices- this CD just shows one side- it's a beautiful compilation- mostly classical in nature. There is not a bad track in the whole thing but my favorite was Pelagia's song from Captain Corelli's Mandolin. This was his debut Cd. He has since done many more but this collection remains one of his strongest. I would also recommend Encore over Ultimate Collection. If you enjoy Josh Groban, you will definitely like Watson- except that unlike many other classically trained tenors, Watson can actually cross over to pop and rock without sounding like something is lodged in his colon (not naming any names here). On subsequent CDs the man's voice is truly versatile. He is a chameleon, moving seamlessly from Nessum Dorma to a cover of Bohemian Rhapsody to a popular Broadway show tune and doing them all meorably well. This, his first, remains one of my personal favorites. This one is definitely a keeper, but you will defintely want to hear more!

He has native talent...an untrained working class guy who sang in a pub and knocked 'em dead! Really a pleasure and delight to listen to. he would end the night, the set, with Nessun Dorma to a standing ovation. these blokes appreciated it! You will too.

I'm glad that musical artists besides opera singers are encouraging the art of opera. I also like some of his more upbeat selections as well. In my opinion though, I couldn't listen to his CD for very long. A couple of his arias sounded a bit splatty at times, and back in the throat at others. I don't claim to know everything about opera, I'm only in highschool, but his sound seemed quite pushed in places.
When all is said and done,however, I hope more people will come to know and love opera through his music.

The soundtrack to Captain Corelli's Mandolin is very beautiful with dramatic and moving selections from the film as well as vocal selections of opera and Italian music of the 1940's which are performed by the cast during the film. The film is about and Italian army officer in occupied Greece at the beginning of World War II when the Italians fought the Greeks in Albania. He falls in love with a beautiful Greek woman. There love affair is fought with many barriers; historic, cultural, and emotional. The soundtrack captures these movements well.

It's more evocative of the book instead of film but the music helps one recall those moments illuminated under the Mediterranean sun.

It's only fair that I take responsibility for buying what is simply a Sound Track Only of the movie. I'm deaf and need a sound track like I need a hole in the head.

I grew up with Greek and Italian music and that is one of the reasons I bought this CD in addition to absolutely loving the movie. The music is original and traditional. "The Mandolin" is perfection. If you want to take a romantic journey through another time and place this music will give you that chance.

Awsome music; lyrics, as well as instrumentals. Takes you away to a land of beauty. If you also grew up with Italian music in your home, you may especially enjoy this version of standard favorites such as Santa Lucia and La Donna E Mobile. I consider this movie as the Italian Americans' "Pearl Harbor". Lots of heroism in the movie and the music elaborates on that with spendor.

What a crowning achievement to bring "REEL CHILL VOL.2", released by Silva America and featuring The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and the Crouch End Festival Chorus ~ conductor James Fitzpatrick and David Temple director of the chorus ~ one can only expect the highest quality of performances and quench the thirst of all "film-score-buffs".

Must ask the following to take a bow ~ James Fitzpatrick (compilation producer), always in their pitching, Reynold da Silva (executive producer), Rick Clark (Mastered & Complied) a tremendous asset to every project they undertake --- and the label which made it all possible ... Silva America --- and of course the composers featured on this soundtrack gem!

I had eagerly looked forward to the release of TNT's "A Christmas Carol," expecting that it would be, as promised, rigorously faithful to Dickens' original novel. In this, I was disappointed (to date, the most faithful adaptation, is Clive Donner's version with George C. Scott as Scrooge). But the TNT version has two saving graces: first, the acting performance of Patrick Stewart, and second, the music soundtrack by Stephen Warbeck. I have made a reading of A Christmas Carol an annual tradition for many years--Warbeck's music almost brings the story alive by itself. In fact, I plan to incorporate pieces of this to accompany our family reading of the book. It has it's suitably dark moments but some wonderful uplifting ones as well. Several tracks are particularly noteworthy: "Fran's Tune" is very short but haunting (as it's companion, "Fran's Piano"), "Fezziwig's Party" is just plain fun, "Scrooge Alone" and "Little Child" are both soft and moving pieces, "Silent Night" is stirring and imaginatively rendered. Overall, a highly recommended soundtrack.

All week I waited and waited for it to come when I ordered it. The day it came I listened to it and it was better than I supposed! Oh! Stephen Warbeck is a grand composer! The music is rich, dark, and reminds me of winter days when the sky is stormy cloudy. 'The Ghost of X-mas Past/School' is really dark. So are 'Funeral', 'Walking Home', 'X-mas Future,' and the rest! I wish everyone had this!

All I really want to say is THIS CD BRINGS OUT THE SCARINESS OF THE MOVIE! I WISH I KNEW WHAT ELSE STEPHEN WARBECK DOES! If you liked THIS CD, you should get 'SLEEPY HOLLOW!'

The reviewer from Moscow, Russia was wrong. It is a WONDERFUL CD!(I doubt the was really from Moscow, Russia. Probably just something he/she stupidly wanted to do) Of course there is hardly any singing - it is the SCORE OF THE TNT ORIGINAL! That means the MUSIC! There are two songs, 'Fezziwig's Song' and 'Topper's Song.' Fezziwig sings his song, 'Rose', during the Christmas party after a pleading from his wife and young Ebenezer. Topper sings his song 'Shy' at Fred's party, just before Scrooge overcomes his shyness and enters the house. The music is beautifully composed by Stephen Warbeck. The TNT Original and the George C. Scott film of 'Carol' are probably the very best you'll find for a while. Oh yes, don't be fooled, 'O' Little Town of Bethlehem' is not 'O' Little Town of Bethlehem.'

There is no singing just music. I hate it! dont wase your money! terrible, buy somthing else!

This pricey UK import CD filled a lot of gaps in my music collection and is an excellent overview of notable music of (mostly) recent films. It's difficult to find consistently listenable soundtrack collections like this, by that I mean free from the obligitory Whitney Houston or Celine Dion embarrassments. Usually rights issues prevent comprehensive compilations like this in the US, too. While I enjoy a lot of soundtrack music, there aren't so many complete soundtracks that I would care to own, some examples of exceptions being Ennio Morricone scores and the About a Boy Soundtrack. While certainly most of these tracks are the actual recordings used in their respective films, I noticed that "La mamma morte" from Philadelphia is not the Maria Callas version. There might be other cases like this, I'm not sure. And "Unchained Melody" from Ghost is an orchestral version, not the pop song (but I consider this a plus). This collection seems to focus on the subtle and quirky, yet melodic music of indie films, with less emphasis on the loud sweeping orchestral scores of major Hollywood hits, but of course there are a few like Gladiator and Braveheart, which are welcome here because like I've said, I probably wouldn't listen to the whole score. I love the two Thomas Newman compositions from American Beauty, and it's good to have some music from films by the Cohen Brothers here. My only complaint would have to be the order of the songs. You would think they would avoid jumping back and forth between pop songs, orchestral scores, and quiet music, but it just seems thrown together by random. I would compare this collection to the excellent "Miramax Films Greatest Hits" but the makers of that album knew to group the two pop/rock songs at the end.

The score to Her Majesty, Mrs. Brown is in it's own way incredible. Listening to it I can take my self back to the scenes in the movie. However there is one thing missing from this soundtrack. My favorite scene, the dance between the Her Majesty aand John Brown. It was an incredible happy moment int the movie yet they left it off the soundtrack. Otherwise I recommend this to anyone who loved the movie I much as I did.

"Mrs. Brown" is a lovely score, but it is very somber and dignified, and can be very heavy. The most light-hearted track is 'The Swim.' The music makes Victoria very alive, for she was very somber in the film. It sounds much better in the film than on the soundtrack. See the movie before you buy the music.
