Nicely updating Timespace: The Best of Stevie Nicks, this 2007 Best Of catches up with the music Stevie Nicks has been making since then. Nicks' asset has always been that her dreamy voice meshes so perfectly with her hippy queen image, and allows her to get away with making poetic statements like "Edge Of Seventeen" or "Rhiannon." That hippy image also contrasts sharply with the fact that she could rock pretty hard when she chose to, like on "I Can't Wait" or the classic duet with Tom Petty, "Stop Dragging My Heart Around."

Frankly, I doubt that anything I could say here would influence anyone's opinion of Stevie Nicks...so just suffice to say that the remastering of the songs is quite good and a step up from the previous best-of's. The live takes of Fleetwood Mac material are nice additions, and I get a charge out of Nicks' version of Zep's "Rock and Roll" (although Heart's version tops Stevie's). "Leather and Lace" remains a highpoint of both Nicks' and Don Henley's musical lives, and the re-working of "Dreams" is the best "new" thing on this CD. Add Stevie's personal notes (she loves Jack Black!?!), and this is certainly worth having if you're a fan.

We had a chance to listen to Crystal Visions and I really enjoyed hearing Stevie all over, she is a really great singer and now we have most of the favorite songs together. We had some friends over for New Years Eve and it was good to listen and say which songs were favorite.
My husband is a fan forever and really had a good time listening, he always remembers Stevie Nicks at Red Rocks in Colorado and how he can't forget hearing her sing.

I really can't say I am a diehard Stevie Nicks fan but I always have enjoyed a good number of her popular hits (with and without Fleetwood Mac). Her best of collection CRYSTAL VISIONS is perfect for casual listeners like msyelf. The cd contains all of my favorite songs that Stevie has done in the past and present. My personal favorite songs? "Room on Fire" and "Talk to Me" (which goth band Diva Destruction does a spectacular cover for the indie film GYPSY 83). I never really was crazy about Fleetwood Mac's music but in this case I really enjoyed songs like "Silver Springs" and "Landslide".

In this day and age of Hannah Montana, The Pussycat Dolls, and other disposable pop tarts who tries to pass themselves off as singers, it is refreshing to hear Stevie Nicks. In my opinion, Stevie sounds as good as ever with her distinct raspy vocals which I absolutely adore. She can definitely teach the latest pop du jour on a thing or two about singing and maintaining a career that has gone on for more than the proverbial 15 minutes. CRYSTAL VISIONS is a great testament to Stevie's longevity in an industry that is more concerned with the bottom line than creating long-lasting careers for artists.

I purchased this CD thinking this would be great collection of my favorite songs, but upon listening to the CD was greatly disappointed. I LOVE Stevie Nicks work, but this attempt to re-vamp her old stuff and make it new is just woefully awful. Now I know why I was able to get it used for only $4.00. Don't waste your money.

Throughout the years, we have replaced them with new copies because someone "borrowed" it, we gave it to them, it was ''worn out from over playing" ..... or gave as gifts! One of the CD's I love to listen to over and over again. One song in particular is so steamy hot that I feel like taking a cold shower after I listen to it. Another song makes me long for a quiet romantic evening alone with the perfect man.

Really a great movie! Saw it years ago when it first came out, and saw most of it on TV and had to buy it. It's one to watch more than once!

"Practical Magic" is an awesome fantasy/ romantic story, and one of the best things about it is the music! I love every tune, esp. the Stevie Nicks and Joni Mitchell songs. Ethereal and romantic, and the score melody at the end is fantastic, too! I recommend it for anyone, but you'll enjoy it even more if you see the movie. "If You Ever Did Believe" at the beginning is a Stevie Nicks/ Sheryl Crow collaboration not found anywhere else. A must-hear!

I loved this movie and the music is fantastic. Up and positive and fun and steamy and all the things you want to make u feel good about the music u listen to.

If you love Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac music, this is the best of her. Great Quality, love her music.

Stevie Nicks is the greatest of all times and this album is a collection of some of her best work. I personally can listen to her album over and over again without being bored one moment. The album Crystal Visions is a must buy for any Stevie Nicks fan; you will not be disappointed. She is the best.

The Stevie Nicks Crystal Vision CD is fabulous!!!! I recommend it to everyone! But then who doesn't love Stevie??

FANTASTIC - I could watch/listen to this for soooo many hours in a row. Stevie is one of the MOST original, phenomenal female singer/songwriters in rock history.

I love the music, the remastering is fantastic. Stevie carries the torch and always will. I think this CD/DVD would make a FANTASTIC Gift for any fan with Christmas around the corner - this music NEVER gets old - ALWAYS amazing!

I admit, I'm a relatively new Stevie Nicks fan. I didn't REALLY get into her music until the last five or six years. And in that time, I've come to love and appreciate her as one of the greatest women in rock.

Being a fan who owns Enchanted, when I first heard she was going to release ANOTHER best of, I admit, I rolled my eyes. But as more information came out, I found myself getting more and more excited. And then when the press releases came out, I knew this one was going to be worth picking up.

First off, my comments on the CD. The sound quality is FANTASTIC. All of these songs have been beautifully remastered for spectacular sound quality. And while yes, original versions of her Mac songs would have been nice, and yes one can gripe about missing tracks like Beauty And The Beast, this CD does offer some semi-new material. The live versions of Rhiannon and Landslide are absolutely gorgeous, and her live cover of Rock And Roll is SICK. (In a good way.) And I like that the Deep Dish remix of Dreams is on here, as I thought it was a great reinvention of a classic.

But the best "new" track on here is the live version of Edge Of Seventeen that closes the disc. (And unlike Enchanted, which was missing the studio version in lieu of a live version, this CD also contains the amazing original studio version.) In fact, I'd go so far as to say it's actually BETTER than the studio version. A new powerful string arrangements amps up the drama of the song and makes it truly an event rather than just a great song. She's had a lot of amazing live versions in the past, including a mostly acoustic one for VH1 Storytellers, but this one trumps them all.

The DVD with this set is TRULY the reason fans should pick this set up. The DVD contains all 11 of her released music videos, an unreleased version of Stand Back that has been floating around the internet in terrible 15th generation VHS rips for years, and a live performance of Edge Of Seventeen from her White Winged Dove Tour HBO broadcast. (Sadly, it's currently the only live solo Stevie we have on DVD outside of the awesomely bad Red Rocks DVD. Reprise seriously needs to release the uncut HBO special on DVD, including the songs not included in the broadcast or subsequent VHS and laserdisc releases.) If that wasn't enough, you can watch the videos with commentary by Stevie, where she discusses the songs, wardrobe, her hair, that awful treadmill in Stand Back, Mick Fleetwood's cameo in I Can't Wait, etc. And in addition, there's priceless home video footage of the making of the Bella Donna album. In all, you have up to two and a half hours of viewing pleasure if you count separate viewings of the videos with and without Stevie's commentary.

The CD/DVD package is a beautifully done digipak which opens up to three panels. The left panel holds the CD, the right panel holds the DVD, and the middle panel holds the CD booklet in a sleeve. The booklet and trays of the digipak include all kinds of gorgeous photos of Stevie, some never before seen. The discs themselves are adorned with artwork created by Stevie herself. The set's liner notes are also incredible and feature a short essay on her career by David Wild and Stevie's thoughts on almost every song. (Commentary on Rooms On Fire is oddly missing.)

It doesn't matter if you already own Enchanted and/or Timespace. You MUST own this set if you're a Stevie fan. The commentary on the videos and priceless behind the scenes footage alone is worth the price, but add the incredible new live tracks and remixes and the fact that this is the first best of CD she's released with Silver Springs in its original form? Absolutely a no-brainer.

Personally, I find Stevie Nicks a little bit nutty, but this really is a damn fine album. Every song is melodic and pleasant. Stevie's constantly quivering vibratto can get to some after a while but the sheer quality of songcraft here is stellar. For my money this is far and away her best work. Very nice thru headphones, too.

As always, Stevie does not fail to disappoint. This CD takes me back quite a number of years (more than I care to admit) and Stevie's voice helps the past to wash over me yet again... Yet for all the memories it invokes, this CD is timeless.

Stevie Nicks as we all know came to fame with Fleetwood Mac.
Her songs with Fleetwood Mac were dark, like Rhiannon, Gypsy etc.
In her first solo effort she sheds the image somewhat and shows us her Rock side.
She engages Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Don Henley and others to come up with a classic solo album.
I can listen to this as easily as any Fleetwood Mac album with her and Lindsay Buckingham.
She also goes country with Leather and Lace. She also does "Stop draggin my heart around" which could arguably be the best song of her career.This shows she does not need Lindsay Buckingham ( or Fleetwood Mac for that matter). She is also one of the great writers of Rock history.
If you like Stevie Nicks, this is where I would start. This will always be her classic solo album.
She is one of the great Rock icons of all time..........enjoy

The first song to the last are excellent. I think her songs on this album are perfect, I am glad that I made this purchuse.

when i heard the first line of ''rhiannon'' back in 75 i knew i heard the voice that would haunt me for the rest of my life. by 81 i was still a huge mac head but new wave was what i loved the most so BELLA DONNA was just ok at that time for me(she wrote the bulk of the album in 75 when eagles country rock was where it was at). in 83 i was all over the synthed out wonderment of THE WILD HEART. ''nightbird'' is heartbreaking. even more heartrbreaking is''beauty and the beast'' classical in sound and classic as a song. ''i will run to you'' another great tom petty duet is not a fave for some but i think tom tapped into stevie's lyrical sympathies and i love to sing along to them. ''enchanted'' a nifty rocker. ''if anyone falls'' and '' sable on blond'' melodic masterpieces. ''stand back'' a fun dance hit. and as many of her songs the rest would grow in meaning thru repeated listenings. it stands as her best most cohesive collection ever. she may not agree because critics and some fans dont agree but this cd i would protect over any of my 4000 others. the only thing: horribly mastered. her record company doesnt seem to be in any hurry to reissue remaster and add bonuses to her eighties work with fleetwood mac or on her own and its a shame. you can find this cheap whether on amazon or cut out bins. if youre a casual fan you must check it out , if youre not. still...

Stevie Nicks is a legend, and her second solo album from 1983, "The wild heart" is brilliant. A huge hit when it was released, this album spent 11 weeks in Billboard's top ten, peaking at #5, and was the number one selling female album of the year according to Billboard's 1983 chart reviews."Stand Back" was the lead single, and spent weeks in the top ten singles chart and MTV's top ten video charts. It propelled Nicks with a dancy modern sound at the time and the song even made the top 15 on the dance charts. The second single, "If anyone falls" was also a huge hit, peaking at #14, and #4 on the MTV video charts, and features sensuous vocals by Nicks, infectuous guitar licks and a dynamic keyboard sound."Nightbird" was the 3rd single and made the top 30 singles charts, but didn't feature a video, which might be why the song didn't make the top 20, as it's an amazing song, with guest vocals by Sandy Stuart. "Enchanted" also got massive play on album oriented rock radio, and also made the top 20 on Billboard's album rock cuts chart(AOR).Besides the hits, the rest of the album contains no filler and is a solid rock and roll effort. "Gate and garden" is gorgeous with an addictive repeating chorus, and I love the piano on it. Nicks sounds so focused here."I will run to you" is a nice mellow duet with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and "Nothing ever changes" is a frenzied mid tempo rocker with a killer saxaphone solo. "Sable on blonde" features guest Mick Fleetwood on drums, and is a gorgeous honey dripped vocal arrangement, with Nicks slowly building up to a truly impressive wail ending the song. Truly classic. And the set closer, "Beauty and the beast" featuring a full orchestra was recorded in one take, and is chilling, with it's fabled lyrics and Stevie's trademark vibrato commanding this classic ballad. This is a classic rock and roll album, by rock's legendary queen. Spectacular.

Wow!!! is the best way to describe this album. I love everything she's done, including the stuff with Fleetwood Mac. This album is my favorite. I remember hearing some of these songs a lot on the radio back in 1987. I'm the same age as this album, 22.

I love Stevie's voice. "The Wild Heart" is a great song. A solid way to open the album. "If Anyone Falls" is not a personal fave but is still a toe tapper. "Gate And Garden" has become a personal hit after just 2 listens. Stevie shows us that she can rock yet again with "Enchanted". "Nightbird" is a great song to relax to. "Stand Back". What else can you say about this song except AWESOME!! The next song, "I Will Run To You", just doesn't do anything for me. "Nothing Ever Changes" is another rocker on here. "Sable On Blond" is similar to "Nightbird" but not quite as forboding. Now comes the finale, "Beauty And The Beast". What can you say about this song? I'd call it Stevie Nick's best song ever! I'm a sucker for ballads, and the portrait of Belle and the Beast is nailed dead on.

song ratings? All get 5 stars except "If Anyone Falls", which gets 4 stars, and "I Will Run To You" which gets 3. Overall though, this album gets 5 stars. A big leap forward compared to her debut "Bella Donna". Recommended if you liked "Timespace: The Best Of Stevie Nicks" and "Tusk" by Fleetwood Mac.

Stevie Nicks 3-CD Box Set is a force to be reckoned with. Many will argue that all of the best stuff could have been done on two discs, but that would have eliminated a lot of very interesting compositions out of the light, especially since she alrady had five solo albums. The range of style is vast, from the rocking, "Edge Of Seventeen" to the new piano version of "Rhiannon". Some of the songs here are great collaborations between Nicks and Jeff Lynne/Tom Petty ("Free Fallin"), Kenny Loggins/Melissa Manchester ("Whenever I Call You Friend"), Warren Zevon ("Reconsider Me") and Sheryl Crow ("Somebody Stand By Me").

The other collaborators are an amazingly collection, including, Don Henley (Eagles), Bruce Hornsby (Bruce Hornsby & The Range), Kenny Loggins, Tom Petty, Joe Walsh, Kenny G, David Foster (Piano, Producer), Don Felder (Eagles), Davey Johnstone (Elton John), Mike Campbell, Paul Buckmaster (Bee Gees), David Crosby (CSN&Y) and Don Was (Producer).

Box Sets are made to include great DEMO cuts and Nicks supplies interesting songs like, "Sweet Girl" and "It's Late". The duets succeed with Nicks singing with Don Henley on, "Leather and Lace" and with Tom Petty on "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around". Its of no small notice that there is no female/female duet, which would have been wonderful, particularly seeing that Sheryl Crow has supplied work here and sang on the Fleetwood Mac future song, "Say You Will".

Of course, the set is filled with great glossy photos and liner notes enough to satisfy any fan. Nicks proves she has the range of any major pop/rock diva with this exhaustive set and its nice to see so many famous talents lending a hand. It still begs the question why Nicks, being such a prolific songwriter, has left out, "Dreams", the only "number one" hit with Fleetwood Mac.

Not only does this set contain Stevie Nick's greatest music, the booklet enclosed explains the reason and inspiration behind each song. She is truly one of the greatest songwriters of our time. The piano version of "Rhiannon" is (in my opinion) the best she has done. This is so worth the extra few bucks.

I love Stevie Nicks and this is the album to buy for a variety of her vocals..a must have for any fan !!!

I bought this in January 08' and I love it. There are three very well documented cds of Ms.Nicks' career. This week, I have especially enjoyed cd 3 and the cover of Free Fallin'. I think that I like Stevie's version better than Tom Pettys. So many hits on all 3 cds! I wish that I had seen the Enchanted tour now that I own the box set. Great listening!!

Trouble in Shangri-La being her 2001 release and her 6th solo album is a collabortion of sorts. Many of the tracks has been produced by Nicks and Sherryl Crow. Sherryl Crow is a guest artist as well and plays bass, guitar and sings background vocals. Sarah McLachlan is also a guest muisician and plays piano, guitar and sings background on the track "Love is". Every day, Planets of the Universe, and Sorcerer are some really nice tracks on this record. The book-let is outstanding. With clear and nice photographs. Easy to read font and all the lyrics are included. 4/5.

I bought this CD years ago when it first came out (what was it, 2001, 2002 or so?)..... I inadvertently left it lying around and it got damaged and scratched, so for years I kept saying "I must buy a new copy of Shangri-la because it's so good." So I finally did and rediscovered a great collection of songs by Stevie Nicks, one of my favorite artists.

The best song on the album has to be "Every Day", to me at least, because of the rhythmic running up and down of Stevie's voice. It's a beatiful song that has both beautiful music and lyrics and lingers on because of the drawn out ending to the phrases. I enjoy it every time I hear it!

"Sorcerer" and "Planets of the Universe" are equally great songs with powerful lyrics and hypnotic melodies.

I enjoyed this album so much and it is very soothing to listen to Stevie's beautiful voice over and over again!

God bless this crazy witchy woman - I have loved every single thing this woman has ever done and I'm not alone. Along with legions of fans, Courtney Love, Billy Corgan, Natalie Maines, Sheryl Crow have all talked about her influence and in most cases recorded versions of her songs. Trouble In Shangri-La was her "comeback" album if you will, her first since 1994's ill fated Street Angel, which though it had all the mystique of Stevie was lacking some of the raw passion we have come to expect from Stevie. Well, that wasn't the case with this album which included Crow singing on "Sorcerer", Maines singing on one of my favs - the country twinged "Too Far From Texas", plus beautiful and poignant lyrics of the first single "Everyday." This is one album I can listen to (and did when it came out) over and over and over....

I LOVE Stevie and Fleetwood, but out of all the compilations to date, this one is by far the greatest from Stevie. The mix on 'Love Is' with Sarah McLachlan is outstanding, as is 'Bombay Sapphire' and all the rest, a well rounded album worth a full listening!

I am a fan of Stevie's, just not so much that I would want to own every thing she's put out. Therefore this a great collection of some of her best stuff.

Subjected to the precis test, most Stevie Nicks songs would probably come up a little short. Who knows what she's talking about half the time? Is that a bad thing? Nah, it's just her. Some songwriters offer the listener a clear narrative that could--if anyone cared to--be easily summarized. Stevie Nicks is not one of them. She's not a Joni Mitchell-type storyteller. But unlike say, Grace Slick, Laura Nyro or Nico, she is less cryptic than fragmentary. You know that "Sara" is about an intense romantic relationship, for instance, but just who was telling whom to build that house? And why? And it turns out Rhiannon was in fact a Welsh witch. Who knew? Or rather, who would know on the basis of the actual text?

But the vagaries were all part of Nicks' charm. Sorta Like looking at the hurried jottings from a diary...one that includes a few poetic fragments mixed in with the innocently self-absorbed musings. And, for the most part, it works. You do find yourself asking things like, "Well, just who is that second voice calling through the door on 'If Anyone Falls In Love?'" Tantalizing hints of a story there. But it doesn't get fleshed out.

And just as well too. Occasionally, Stevie finds another songwriter--like Tom Petty!--who complements her style and matches her sensibility. (The STORY behind "Stop Dragging Heart Around" is a little sketchy too, after all, but that doesn't keep it from being just about THE PERFECT Stevie Nicks track). By contrast, when she does more pedestrian songs by more pedestrian writers like Jon Bon Jovi or Bret Michaels, well, the songs' basic conceits are just SOOOO obvious. Too obvious, in fact. Love's a hard game to play? Yeah, no kidding. Sometimes life is pleasure, sometimes it's pain? Do tell, Jon.

But even with these less-than-stellar efforts, Stevie gives them the old college drop-out try and actually pulls them off. Just as her sheer conviction steers her through her own wheezy whimsy on schlock-masterpieces like "Beauty and the Beast." This ode to Gallic cinema and sentimentality should by rights be a clunker, but by dint of sheer will power, she makes something very meaningful of it. I get a little chill every time I hear her sing the line, "I never doubted your beauty, I've changed" even though I'm not 100% sure what that means [if she NEVER doubted her lover's beauty, why did she have to change]. Doesn't pay to overinterpret though. Just sit back and listen to her give Piaf a run for her money. And only Nicks can get away with whispering "la belle and la bete" tout en francais over the fade out. C'est magique...and magnifique.

And as awkward as some of the lyrics to the album's "political" closer "Operation Desert Angel" are, it still works, and her embrace of the participants in THAT desert war, seems to reach out to those who may have fought in the last one (Viet Nam) with her "you should know how much we love you" comments. And the song could certainly stand to be revived these days and for this war.

I see below that the hardcore fans have their arguments about just what tracks should have been included on any Stevie Nicks "Best Of." You're always going to get that kind of argument. Me, I am as happy as a pig in swill to be able to hear my two favorite Nicks numbers ("Stop Draggin..." and "Stand Back," well, if not quite back to back, certainly within minutes of each other. Magic Time.

Most solo artists don't have the hits to create a true greatest hits package, but Nicks is one exception. In fact Timespace eschews some of her top 40 hits, such as "After the Glitter Fades" and "Nightbird," to include some of her best tracks ("Beauty and the Beast" and "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You").

The striking thing about Timespace is what a strong collection it is. Nicks truly grew through the 80s, lifting off from the ashes of the seventies rock sound that Fleetwood Mac helped define and ultimately rising to create strong material based on the new electronic sounds of the 1980s.

Like most best of/greatest hits albums, the new tracks are nice but hardly required listening. While it's always interesting to hear Nicks tackle songs by other artists, the hair-metal of Jon Bon Jovi ("Sometimes It's a Bitch") and Bret Michaels ("Love's a Hard Game to Play") are more suited to Cher or Heart than a true original like Stevie Nicks. "Desert Angel" is yet another example of the self-indulgent lyrics and overblown production that had begun to plague her work.

Still, this is a great album for the casual listener who wants to own the best of Stevie Nicks solo work, which is well deserving of such a collection.

Every major artist eventually releases a "best of" disc. For a true legendary artist like Stevie Nicks, I feel the best way to listen to her music is to hear her full albums as well as her 1998 3 cd box set, "Enchanted," as Stevie has more to offer than just her top 40 hits.But as an introduction to her solo work, or for fans to easily crank up her well known tunes on one disc, this is an excellent disc to own.Stevie Nicks has that one of a kind voice that cannot be duplicated, and her poetic cryptic writing is infectuous.Her biggest solo hits from the 1981-1989 period are all included here, including the top ten singles, "Talk to me," "Stand Back," "Leather and lace(with Don Henely)," and Stop draggin' my heart around(With Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers)." Also included are her top 20 hits "Rooms on fire," "If anyone falls," "I can't wait," and the classic metal grooved, "Edge of seventeen."Three fan faves, "Beauty and the beast," "Has anyone ever written anything for you," and a remixed version of "Whole lotta trouble," are also here, as are three bonus tracks, the best being "Operation Desert Angel," on which Stevie wrote about the Gulf war. The other two bonus tracks were not written by Nicks: "Sometimes it's a bitch" was penned by Jon Bon Jovi, and "Loves a hard game to play" penned by Brett Michaels of Poison, aren't terrible songs, but they also aren't the wonderful magical stuff the Queen of Rock can crank out on her own either.Those two songs were suggested by the record label to help push Nicks into the 1990's airwaves, and that plan didn't work out, as when both of those songs were released as singles to promote this package, they failed on the charts. That was enough to convince Nicks to follow her crystal visions and her 2001 top 5 comeback album, "Trouble in Shangri la" proves that fact.Still, this is a solid 5 star release that should be in every cd collection. This is the stuff man!! Stevie Nicks is one of rocks all time best(and my personal all time fave artist), and this solo compilation proves that fact easily.

Only 2 songs hold up on this otherwise very dated album, which suffers from too many electronic instruments for the most part. But "Rooms On Fire" remains an energetic mid-tempo love song. The greatest song is the haunting, melodic yet strangely sinister would be title song, "Alice". Even with the electronic drums and percussion, Nicks powerful vocals and imaginative lyrics create a unique masterpiece. These 2 songs are why I've kept the CD these many years.

I'm a Stevie Nicks fan. I like her voice and her lyrics are, for the most part, simple and related to life experiences. This album brought back so many good memories of the 80s for me.

Soulful, fun and energetic, "The Other Side of the Mirror" is Stevie Nicks at her best. Each song, from "Long way to go" to "Juliet" reveals the sultry side of the sexy siren, whose enchanted lyrics and melodies of love's more intimate and sometimes darker side, captivates the imagination. "Mirror" has great power and can touch the heart of the listener familiar with the singer's genre, if only one will listen and dare to step through to "The Other Side of the Mirror".

This is by far my favorite Stevie Nicks album. The songs Rooms on Fire, Cry Wolf and Juliet are phenomenal and can be listened to repeatedly.
