Urban Torque Vol. 1: Another Great Compilation from urbantorque recordings
October 10, 2008
Tired of the banging club sounds that scoured your brain over the lazy summer days? Looking for something to reaffirm your faith in house music’s power to be both uplifting and intelligent? To the rescue gallops in Leigh Morgan’s Urban Torque label.
Mixed by the labelmeister himself, this first volume of classics, exclusives and brand new heavies is guaranteed to get the blood flowing, the synapses snapping and to have you forgetting the gathering autumnal gloom.
The obvious big-hitters are names such as Francois Dubois, brother of Frank and Parisien master of silky smooth keyboard-led deep trance. Also on call is Shur-I-Kan. Still pumping out the live improv action beloved of followers of London’s Bays, he also appears here in his solo guise for a reprise of this year’s instant classics, Gripper and Twist. But this is the tip of the iceberg in this heavenly collection.
Add in some Sergio Munoz, the techno buzz of Office Gossip, and even Scope’s Deep Track and you have a collection that’s high on warmth, electro goodness and above all good to come back to over and over again. Urban Torque seems to be this year’s label to watch. You heard it here first.
